I love this place!!!! I would recommend it to anyone but I've only had breakfast! There is still so much more for me to discover but I think they have the best bagels around!! They are so fresh and inexpensive with a ton of different flavors. The Tuscan bagel is DELICIOUS!!! (Tuscan - Italian seasoning, olives and mozzarella - go try it!) They also are very inexpensive! Bagels are under two bucks but the CC minimum is $5 so I have to get 2 or 3 bagels to use my card. Reasonably priced so I have to buy more? Yes, please! Great location, too! I would recommend going next door for a fresh juice/smoothie (read my review on Main Squeeze) then getting breakfast and enjoying both while sitting outside. When you're finished you can do some shopping!

I've been to Charleston Bagel Company a few times now, and each time I've left satisfied. I'm from New Jersey, so of course, my standards are pretty high when it comes to a good bagel. When I first walked through the front doors, I have to say that I was a little taken aback by how pricey the items on the menu are. I'm used to my bagels being 90 cents each, but here the prices are significantly higher (not to mention - these are much smaller than the average New Jersey/New York bagel). But I'll be fair, as I've had my share of lackluster bagels, and these definitely aren't. Charleston Bagel Company is always well stocked with a variety of flavors, ranging from the traditional everything or poppy seed to the more adventurous, such as the sundried tomato or asiago-jalapeno. There are so many options, and never enough time left in Charleston to try them all! Nestled in Mount Pleasant's bustling shopping center on Long Point Road, I've never found this place empty. Whether that's a product of its ideal location, or its delicious bagels, I'm not sure. However, I do know that I'll definitely be back next time I find myself in this quaint Charleston neighborhood.

Meh.. Publix makes a better bagel for half the price. Sandwiches looked anemic.

I've been going to Charleston bagel Company for four years now. It was the best bagel shop in Charleston, which isn't saying a lot. But since they've changed ownership it's been god awful. The most rude people-terrible service and barely enough cream cheese to even cover the bagel. My daughter-in-law had a craving for a parfait, however they pre-make their parfaits and the granola get all mushy. So she asked if she could have a fresh one made and the nasty woman said no, not until they sell the ones that are already made! What great service! We will never go back!!!

Service is sub-par at best! Wide ordered a blueberry bagel which was right behind the cash register...15mins later we're told they're out of blueberry bagels. When we finally did get our bagels they we're as good as a bagel you'd get at a gas station. I asked for mine toasted and it came out feeling microwaved. Truly unfortunate!

Adequate is the best word for it. They are inflexible about their menu and I've had way better bagels. But it's cute and the coffee is good.

I've done breakfast sandwiches and lunch a handful of times each and have enjoyed everything I put in my face at Charleston Bagel Co. The En Fuego wrap has been my favorite so far being full of chicken, beans, pico, and Monterrey jack. They have a whole section of house made cream cheese for sale and you can even get day old bagels for 1/2 price. I can't wait to try more options here and see myself coming back often for breakfast or lunch.

Been going here ever since I was a little kid. Always great service and great food. Coffee is local and brewed fresh. Bagels are made locally and taste fresh! Love the book exchange they have in the front. Best place to sit with friends or family and share a nice breakfast (vegan options) and coffee.

I really wanted to like this place, as good bagels are very few and far between here in Charleston. Arrived here around 10 on a Saturday morning, it was busy as expected. The staff seems to be mostly high school students, which is great because I think you should work in high school, but is also a detriment, because they don't seem to care about working too hard or getting your order right. My sandwich came out a sloppy mess. Bacon only on one side, some mystery meat in there..Come on guys, have some pride in what you do. It took about 10 minutes after ordering to get our sandwiches, which is a bit too long if you ask me. I'm not sure if we will be back.

When Laura and I first moved to our apartment in Mt. P Charleston Bagel was a regular for us to kick start the morning. I like that it's a casual, come as you are place. The order counter makes it easy to get in and out. Breakfast selections are pretty good as well. What sets them apart for me is the stellar coffee. It really does taste great, and that's saying a lot since I have several thousands of dollars invested in Starbucks. But the major securing pint that will bring me back is location, location, location! I can walk from my apartment and that makes you perfect in my book. I highly suggest the Western Omelet. It's got the right mix of vegies and cheese without anyone thing over powering it. They make everything there in the kitchen so your egg dishes are sure to be made to order and hot!

My husband and I adore this place. We always come for brunch on Sundays. Very fresh selection of bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. I get the Maybank every time I go, which has turkey, grilled onions, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and cream cheese. I get it on a wheat everything bagel. It's my favorite so far. I'm dying to try the Fisherman, which is their version of lox. We love the fruit salad, which is extra and part of the side + drink combo that you can add on to any entree. Service has been great the four times we've been here and we have yet to be disappointed in the food - it's always great. Just a tip...they sell one day-old bagels for half the price, so check for those before you go and buy the full-priced ones. We're loyal customers through and through.

Love bagels? This is the place to go! They have a great variety of delicious breakfast and sandwich options as well as some tasty sweet treats. Limited seating but they do have outdoor dog friendly seating as well. Also, I recommend going early when the bagels are fresh baked, they are the best right out of the oven :)

Agree with the fella from NJ. Not the authority on authentic bagels, but Ive had slammin bagels up and down the east coast, and appreciate an oh so good bagel. What I do know, is that these bagels are not good. Today was my first visit; lunch around 1:30. Ordered the Wild Turkey; roasted turkey with smoked gouda, onions, lettuce and tomato. Sounds good, but the sandwich barely had any turkey on it, and the everything bagel was tough and stale tasting. For $6? WIth no sides? Ehhh...Wont be making a second visit. Pity. The fellas behind the counter were cool, and there was nice seating inside and out, but there are definitely better bagels in Mount P., albeit still overpriced (imo), but definitely better.

Loved the Ally Cat bagel with cream cheese!!

Had the biscuit and gravy platter. Atmosphere of restaurant is nice. Coffee was great. The eggs, bacon, and biscuits not so much. Just typical food I could have done at home. Kind of bland, not a lot of seasoning. Bagels are the pride of this place so stick with those. Wouldn't recommend anything of the breakfast platters.

So was excited to try this place because I was looking forward to fresh food. I ordered two bagels for my kids and two wraps with chicken, retried beans, cheese and fresh salsa. So I watch them put the bagels on the heating element before they start the wrap. The guy making the wrap pulls out all these plastic bags of processed food, and during the cooking processed I watched him handling the food with gloves but he went to the back and opened doors of what appeared to be very dirty surfaces to come back and put his hands on the food. This whole process took 10 minutes and when they were done they pulled the NOW COLD bagels out to put cream cheese on them. The wrap was disgusting and salty and did not taste fresh at all. If they used fresh ingredients it would have been different. The kids stated they liked their bagels, the only reason they get two stars. When I pay over $6 for a wrap I expect it to not come out looking deflated and full of processed crap. To make this visit even better while we were waiting a young girl said, "ewe." Apparently her milk was expired and the dad looked upset when he came back and said he wasn't getting anymore because he doesn't trust them. The employees were all frowning and the two gentleman in the front who were cooking wouldn't make eye contact. Needless to say we will not be going back to this establishment we will not recommend it to others. Trust me you can make fresher food in your own kitchen.

I am baffled by all the glowing reviews of the bagels here. These are not authentic bagels but an approximation. Good enough, I guess, since there don't seem to be any real bagel places around the Charleston area. Let me say, I really want to like this place. Have been coming here over *years* hoping that their service would one day become less surly (not yet!), and that their food would improve (sadly no). Today I tried a "cheese" omelet (was that American cheese? if so, memo: that's not real cheese!) it was supergreasy, and a lukewarm coffee, with a side of grumpiness at the counter. My question is this: is there nobody in the Charleston area who knows how to make a properly boiled, crusty, bagel? If some transplant would just do that, they would make a killing.

  • Tara B.

Love the brunch/breakfast options here. Lox and cream cheese is delicious! It would be nice to have table service after ordering as the tables in the back are a little out of range for the orders just being called out. Gets busy on weekends so it's worth getting their early. The burrito bowls are on the money!

  • Tzeitel H.

Definitely worth a visit for their bagels, but not so much for their omelets. I tried their Western Omelet - the cheese was no where to be found and the vegetables were a bit old so overwhelmed the taste of the omelet. Highly recommend sticking to their bagels for breakfast.

Charleston Bagel is my absolute favorite place to go eat bagels. I can not express the quality and care they take into making your order. I never get tired of this place and would go every day if I could.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE NEW SUMMERVILLE LOCATION (took over Hummingbird Bakery on Town Square). Just a totally bad experience. The one star is just for the space being clean and the bagel itself was pretty good. I went in to get a bagel sandwich to go. Limited selection (and nothing with roast beef?!), but ultimately chose the turkey and gouda with cranberry honey mustard. Also ordered 3 cupcakes. Total was $17!! OK, fine...The guy- who is obviously new and does not know ANY of the product- wanders back to the register 5 minutes after disappearing to make the sandwich to tell me he's waiting on the other girl to get out of the bathroom to ask her a question. Ummm...She finally returns- no smile, no hello, nothing whatsoever friendly- and it turns out they are out of the cranberry stuff. You've only been open 2 weeks and you're out of stuff on your already limited menu? And I'm paying over $8 for a sandwich with just 2 slices of cold cut turkey (I watched him take the package out of the fridge) and a slice of white cheese? See the picture for yourself...By that point, I was frustrated and didn't want to have an argument requesting a refund, so I took my stuff and left. Sandwich was beyond boring and lacked any flavor other than a fresh bagel. Later that night, we all split the cupcakes. All three were GROSS and all tasted the same!! We got the Vanilla with Buttercream (zero flavor), Sweet Tea (the best of the 3, kinda like a spice cake with lemonish icing) and the Salted Caramel (same tasteless vanilla cake with some type of awful caramelish icing.) We through at least half of 2 cupcakes away. Would NEVER return and certainly not recommend. If you're looking for good bagels, awesome sandwiches with HUGE portions , delicious baked goods and awesome service, PLEASE go to Charleston Bakery on the corner of Dorchester and Bacons Bridge. You won't regret it.

Good bagel shop. There bagels remind me of New York bagels. The place is rather small but it's in the perfect location and they have what you need.

Charleston Bagel Company has some great bagels! When we decided to move to the south, we were told that we could forget good food, good service, and good selection, and boy, everyone was wrong! The bagels here are much better than we were able to get in south Jersey, and very, very close to as good as I grew up eating in central Jersey. They've got a good selection of sandwiches (that I haven't tried, yet) and the service is fast. The prices are maybe a little higher than I'm used to, but I'll pay it for a good bagel!

  • Paul R.

Bagel ok but sandwiches not worth the money. Very chinsy on the meats. I recommend they change the name of "The Jersey" to "Were Too Cheap To Give You More Than 1 Piece of Meat". Don't want to pay $4.50 for a bagel sandwich and wait 10 min for it and it not be good. Gave it another chance...and dropped my review another star. No acceptable reason I should wait 15 min for a breakfast sandwich. Get your act together. Save $ and go to diethylstilbestrol Teeter and buy the ingredients. I've seen prison kitchens run more efficiently.

I work very close to the CBC and on the weekends I DREAM about coming here for the Irish Reuben. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it, and I was there just yesterday (for the second time this week I might add...). I accidental stumbled upon these delicious delicious bagels when I was on my lunch break one day. I was in a sleepy haze so I drove over to the Starbucks (just a stones throw away from CBC) to get a coffee. I had a bunch of time to kill still and was feeling a little hungry. I didn't want anything too expensive or to sit down in a formal restaurant or anything. I drove by CBC and figured I'd give it a try. I walked in at 1:45, what I didn't realize is that they close at 2! I didn't even pay any attention to the sign on the door. They didn't say a peep to me about them closing in 15 minutes, not even when I told them it was for 'here.' Since it was my first time there I was lost on what to order. I asked the cashier what she recommend. She rattled off a number of things (mostly off of the breakfast side) but it was so late in the day already I wasn't feeling very breakfast-y. She then said she recommended the Irish Ruben. I looked up at the cute chalkboard menu and it sounded pretty dang good! Corned beef, cheese, coleslaw (just trust me on this one!!), lettuce, tomato, and mustard on a bagel. They ask you if you want it hot or cold, go with hot! It's so warm and melty and delicious with that cool slaw on top....YUM!! I've never had it cold (why fix what's not broke, ya know?) but I'm sure it would still be scrumptious. You pick any of the bagels they aren't sold out of (this was 15 minutes to closing time, remember? lol) and they get to work on constructing the amazing saucer of deliciousness. My personal favorite is the everything bagel. It goes SO well with the Irish Ruben. Unfortunately, the rest of Charleston is in love with the everything bagel as well so if you show up at 1:45 like I did, they may be out of it. Man, I know I have more I want to say about this amazing hidden gem, but I'm so focused on eating another Irish Ruben that I lost my train of thought. I mean it is almost lunch time....

Bagels are good but the service is terrible. There aren't many options in Charleston so this is typically where I end up. Get your bagels before 10am otherwise they probably are out of them. I suggest picking up bagels to go over having them make your sandwich unless you have 45 mins to spare.

Decent bagels, but nothing I'm writing home about. It's their service that is really lacking. Last two experiences have been a let down. You would think a toasted bagel with a smear would not be that difficult. Last week, they gave me the wrong bagel (I get my bagels to go so I got this nice surprises once I get to work). This week, I got the correct bagel but it wasn't toasted. On top of that, you really need to see how much cream cheese they put on this thing. I'd have to call it "heavy" cream cheese. It really is a ridiculously large amount. I scraped off enough to cover almost two additional bagels. I get in there pretty early. Definitely before the morning rush. So there's really no good excuse. For a restaurant that specializes in bagels, these guys are seemed to be challenged to deliver a decent product with good service. They need a good manager in there to run this place and monitor service and quality.

Took 40 minutes to get my food. Staff completely unorganized and a bagel bought at the grocery store would've tasted better.

Pathetic. Just spent nearly $6 for a ham and cheese sandwich. Get home and see that my sandwich consisted of one slice of cheese and 2 thin pieces of ham. It barely covered the bread. Everything here is bare minimum, even breakfast sandwiches are paltry. Will never go back.

Charleston Bagel is my go-to bagel destination. It is close by and has lots of options. I usually go for the sesame bagel with Veggie Cream Crease (cost around $2.5). The Santa Fe Breakfast burrito is also very tasty. They have good prices and the bagels are usually spot on. The service there can be hit or miss, sometimes it is a little slow or the coffee is empty but not a huge deal.

Just like home! I'm from the Jersey Shore, and when I moved to south Jersey, I mourned the loss of good bagels. I might as well be right back in Bradley Beach - these bad boys are boiled, kosher salt on the Everythings - this is a great bagel spot. The wait can be significant though, even for two bagels with CC. It was a beautiful cool morning though so we just chilled outside and enjoyed the breeze!

No Bagels! My daughter and I thought we would try out Charleston Bagel Company for breakfast today and they were out of bagels as their oven was broken. We decided to try one of their breakfast wraps and a smoothie since we obviously were not trying the bagels. The breakfast wrap was tasteless as well as the smoothie. Staff was pretty indifferent. Would not waste my time here...there are much better options in the area!

I give this place a C-, a C at best. Service was ok. The lady who took my order did what I assume was her best to be friendly. I ordered to go a breakfast bagel sandwich that comes with egg, cheddar cheese, onions, bacon, and tomato, although I left the bacon off my sandwich. After a normal wait I got my order to go in a bag without any napkins. Couldn't find any napkins anywhere. The sandwich was ok but bland. No salt or pepper or anything. Good thing I ordered the everything bagel or I would not have had any seasoning. The bagel itself was just ok. I have definitely had better. Nice spot though if you want a quiet place to read and enjoy bland unseasoned food. I won't be back.

They have a great selection of bagels and schmears. I had a cheese bagel with the vegetable cream cheese and it was really pretty good as far as bagels go. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice, a little tart, and nice seating areas in this casual bagel shop.

Great bagels and good coffee. Nice selection of items you can add to your tasty bagel, chewy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Um not sure about the rave reviews on this one. The bagels at this place are terrible. I'm a jew, I spend time in new york, I clearly love carbs...I'm trying to think of what else qualifies me as a "bagel expert".... Yes the people are nice, great, we can be pals, but the bagels are terrible and you cant call yourself "bagel company" have terrible bagels?

I am a SC native and eaten bagels my whole life; these bagels are pretty good. This restaurant has a wide selection of bagels which are easily seen behind the register. They have a clean dining area with lovely wrought iron chairs and round tables. They also offer a combo where you get a drink and chips or fruit salad (which is delicious!) The Pepsi dispenser is a disappointment (doesn't everyone in the South drink Coke??) and their sweet tea could use an extra cup of sugar, but overall, I was pleased. I would come here again and recommend it to friends.

Had the Lumberjack wrap . . . had to choose from four flavors. . . the cheese jalepeno tortilla was mighty savory. Nice place to sit outside for a quick weekend breakfast. Definitely on my do-over list.

So like my other Charleston reviews, I've only been a couple of times but I really liked Charleston bagel. Good location, plenty of parking and in a cool shopping center. Also a good setting, has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Great big menu on the wall with specials. Highly recommend the Charleston Club. The person working the register on Sunday morning was extremely cordial and made it a point that they appreciated my business, even if it was just a bagel sandwich and a drink. My only complaint is there isn't a list of the types of bagels available. I realize this changes based on what is baked for the day, and luckily I asked if they had any jalapeno bagels (they did, but it wasn't spicy :( Oh my other complaint is Pepsi products instead of Coke. Other than that...really liked this place.

So I realize it's hard to screw up a bagel but this place is locally run and has a really good selection. The manager/owner is one of the nicest guys you'll meet and you can tell he loves his job. They have great breakfast and lunch sandwiches, sides to go with, and a nice drink selection. (although pepsi, not coke products. boo) Definitely try when you're in Mt. Pleasant!
